The Dales Alliance Golf League: Join the Competitive Fun!
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to represent Blackwell Grange Golf Club in a long-standing and prestigious league? The Dales Alliance Golf League, established in 1966, offers a fantastic platform for weekend competitive golf, combining camaraderie and friendly rivalry with other top clubs in the region.
What is the Dales Alliance Golf League?
The league was formed to provide early and late-season competitive golf for participating clubs. The format encourages teamwork, strategy, and spirited competition among members, all while enjoying great courses and a sociable atmosphere.
Five other clubs join Blackwell Grange Golf Club in this historic league:
- Bishop Auckland
- Catterick
- Thirsk and Northallerton
- Bedale
- Crook
Each team hosts a match in both the spring and autumn series, making this a twice-yearly highlight for all involved.
Competition Format
- Teams: 10 players per team, paired into five betterball pairs.
- Format: Betterball Stableford off 90% handicap.
- Scoring: The aggregate score of all five pairings determines the team’s position for that match. League points are awarded as follows:
- 6 points for 1st place
- 5 points for 2nd place
- Down to 1 point for 6th place
At the end of the season, after both the spring and autumn matches, the team with the highest points total is crowned champion, receiving a shield and a prize. Additional prizes are awarded to the top 5 pairs in each match.
Who Can Participate?
- Open to all Blackwell Grange members aged 18 and over.
- Players must have an active handicap of 18 or below.
- Entry Fee: £10 per person, including a one-course meal after each match.
This league is a great way to hone your skills, enjoy competitive golf, and connect with fellow members and golfers from other clubs.
