Blackwell Secure 3rd in Division One with Strong Finish
The 2025 Teesside Union of Golf Clubs season came to a thrilling close this week, and what a campaign it’s been for Blackwell Grange Golf Club – both as a team and individually.
Final Fixture: Blackwell 18 – Teesside 6
In the final match of the season, played at home on Wednesday evening, Blackwell put on a brilliant show against a typically strong Teesside GC side. Our lads didn’t lose a single match, recording 6 wins and 6 halved matches to secure an emphatic 18–6 victory.
There was strong support out on the course from members and regulars, with the 9th tee once again proving a popular spot for the “Blackwell Ultras”. A huge thank you to everyone who turned up to cheer the team on.
Final Standings: Third Place Secured
That final push sealed a third-place finish in Division One, with Blackwell ending on 193 points, improving on last year’s fifth-place result.
Congratulations to Bishop Auckland, deserved champions finishing on 220 points, and to Teesside, who held on for second with 200. It was tight at the top, and our boys gave it everything right to the wire.
Promotion to Division One also goes to Barnard Castle and Darlington GC – which means we can look forward to a proper Darlo derby next season!
Individual Glory: Blackwell Dominates the Top 5
It wasn’t just the team performance that shone this year. In the Division One individual standings, Blackwell landed three players in the top five — a superb achievement:
-
Rochy – 19 points
-
Lew – 19 points
-
JV – 19 points
All three finished just two points behind the joint leaders – Steve Fox (Teesside GC) and Brian McEwan (Seaton Carew) on 21 points.
Thanks to his superior away points total, it’s Rochy who will now go on to represent Blackwell in the Teesside Union of Golf Clubs Scratch Match Play Championship. A huge honour, and very well deserved.
A big shout also goes to Callum Moncur (Darlington GC) who topped Division Two with a fantastic 25 points.

Huge credit goes to the full Blackwell squad who gave their all this season:

From Captain Jon Bradley:
“We’re proud of the way the lads performed all season. To go unbeaten in the final match, finish third overall, and have three players in the individual top five is something every member of the team should take real pride in. We’re building something special here at Blackwell.”
Here’s to a great 2026 season...and the return of the Darlo derby!
