The Seniors Teesside Union league is intended for players who enjoy playing competitive golf. There are currently two Divisions with 8 teams in each Division.  The two teams finishing bottom of the 1st Division are relegated; likewise the winners and runners up of Division 2 are promoted.

The format is pairs better ball match play played off the white tees, each match consists of 6 games. Handicaps are 90% of the difference from the lowest Handicap in each 4 ball. All 18 holes are to be played as there are bonus points for the team that wins the most holes. The matches are scored - 2 points for a win, 1 point for a half. The Bonus points are 2 for an away win, 1 for a home win.

You must be aged 55 or over to be eligible to play, although you do not need to be a member of the Seniors’ Section. The maximum playing handicap allowance is 24. The standard of golf is high, so being able to play to your handicap regularly and having a strong will to win would be good!

Matches are played on Mondays from the end of April to the middle of August, 14 fixtures in total. Home matches tee off at 1.00pm, even though the matches are competitive we are civilised, so meet around mid-day for a bacon butty. The cost is £3.00 home and away.

A knockout competition between all 16 teams will be introduced in 2022.  This will run alongside the 14 matches in the season and will consist of 5 pairs from each team.

An availability notice will be posted on the Seniors’ notice board before the start of the season. If you are interested in playing please sign the notice or contact the team manager, we look forward to hearing from you.
