The Dales Alliance was formed in 1966 to allow weekend competitive golf between clubs early and late in the season. Five other clubs participate in the league:
Bishop Auckland
Catterick
Thirsk and Northallerton
Bedale
Crook
The format sees each team host a match in both series - spring and autumn. Ten man teams are sent out in five pairs. The format is betterball stableford off 90% handicap. At the end of the matches the aggregate score of all five pairings is then used to determine the winning team which receive 6 league points. 5 points for 2nd place down to 1 point for 6th place.
At the end of the season (after completion of the spring and autumn matches) the winning team receive a prize and shield with individual prizes given to the top 5 pairs in each match.
The entry fee is £10 per person, this includes a one course meal. Eligibility is open to all members over the age of 18 with an active handicap of 18 or below.
